Findings from a 2012 Youth Survey outcome finally saw a call by Dr Michael Carr-Gregg to our 'National Health Ministers' to tie school funding to strength based resilience programs which include learning of coping skills. Dr Michael Carr-Gregg works as a nationally registered child and adolescent psychologist.... he stressed the urgent need as "self-harm is going through the roof".
Offering the learning of a variety of coping skills at primary and secondary schools will give students at a young age the opportunity to try and participate within different techniques that can help them calm their minds while enduring everyday life situations. This gives them valuable knowledge to find a coping skill that they are comfortable and interested in pursuing.
Learnt coping skills which help improve mental health wellness within schools will help build and strengthen personal resilience along with also equipping students with knowledge of how they can offer support to each other when faced with life adversities. This also opens opportunity for a natural progression of sharing the learning filter into families and communities at a grass roots level.
Our concern is ~ How long will this process take ???

We strongly recommend parents carry out their own research and consider the value of opening minds to introducing learning and practicing of coping skills into their everyday home life today. Parenting approach "Monkey see ~ Monkey do !!". Life Coping Skills
